FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS
- What happens after my fire sprinkler system installation is complete?
Sprinkler systems must be regularly inspected, tested, and maintained to make sure it is in proper working condition.
- If I have a smoke alarm installed, is that enough protection?
No. While smoke alarms are essential, they do not provide enough protection. They are only warning signals and do not help contain or extinguisher the fire like fire sprinkler systems can.
- In the event of a fire, will water damage from the sprinkler system be worse than the fire damage?
Sprinklers work quickly to control the heat and smoke caused by the fire. The water damage will be less extensive than the water damage from fire-fighting hose lines.
- What is Local Law 26?
The retroactive requirements pertaining to fire sprinkler systems states that all office buildings -100- feet or more in height are to be fully sprinklered by July 1, 2019.
